Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and position the rack in the lower third of the oven.
- Place the ham in a large roasting pan, flat side down. Score a diamond pattern about 1/8-inch deep into the fat of the ham.
- Season the ham generously with salt and pepper.
- Roast the ham in the preheated oven for 2 hours, uncovered.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cinnamon, and whole cloves. Stir until the sugar is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Brush the glaze over the ham, making sure to get it into the scored areas for maximum flavor.
- Continue to bake the ham for an additional 30-45 minutes, or until the ham is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).
- Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute for a juicier ham.
Tips
- For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding orange or pineapple juice to the glaze.
- If you want a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the glaze mixture.
- Leftover ham can be used in sandwiches, soups, or pasta for days of delicious meals!
