Pizza dough
1 lb
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Onion
1 large, thinly sliced
Fennel bulb
1 medium, thinly sliced
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 cups, shredded
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated
Fresh basil
1/4 cup, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness, ensuring it is not too thick or too thin.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and fennel.
  4. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and the fennel is softened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or the preheated pizza stone.
  6. Spread the caramelized onion and fennel mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese generously on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with fresh chopped basil.
  10. Let cool slightly, then slice and serve hot.
