Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the saskatoon berries and 1/4 cup of water. Simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes until the berries have softened and released their juices. Strain to remove the solids and return the liquid to the saucepan.
- Add 1/4 cup of sugar to the pan with the berry liquid and heat until the sugar has dissolved, creating a homemade saskatoon berry syrup. Set aside to cool.
- Brew a shot of espresso or prepare a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method.
- In a separate saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Froth the milk using a milk frother or whisk vigorously until it becomes foamy and light.
- Pour the warm saskatoon berry syrup into a large mug.
- Add the brewed espresso or coffee to the mug and stir gently to combine.
- Pour the frothed milk over the coffee mixture, allowing it to blend beautifully.
- Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a few fresh saskatoon berries for an extra touch of sweetness.
- Serve hot, and enjoy the delightful flavors of your Saskatoon Berry Latte!
Tips
- For an extra kick, add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg on top of the whipped cream.
- If you prefer a non-dairy option, substitute the milk with almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk.
- You can adjust the sweetness of the syrup by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
