- Soy sauce

- Sesame oil

- Honey
- 2 tablespoons
- Fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Green onions
- 4, sliced (divided)
- Sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons, toasted
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and half of the sliced green onions to create the marinade.
- Place the tuna steaks into the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for a deeper flavor.
- Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat until shimmering, ensuring the pan is hot enough to sear the tuna effectively.
- Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later use.
- Sear the tuna steaks in the hot pan for 1-2 minutes on each side, depending on your preferred level of doneness (1 minute for rare, 2 minutes for medium).
- Remove the tuna steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for a few minutes, allowing the juices to redistribute.
- While the tuna is resting, pour the reserved marinade into the hot pan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly thickened.
- Slice the tuna steaks against the grain and serve them drizzled with the reduced marinade sauce. Garnish with the remaining sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
