Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and add 4 tablespoons of Thai tea leaves. Stir gently and allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes to extract the full flavor. For a stronger brew, steep for an additional 2-3 minutes before straining.
- Strain the brewed tea into a pitcher or large glass, discarding the tea leaves.
- While the tea is still warm, stir in 1/2 cup of sweetened condensed milk until well combined. For an even creamier texture, you can mix in the optional 1/4 cup of evaporated milk.
- Taste the tea mixture and add sugar, stirring until completely dissolved. Adjust sweetness to your preference.
- Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes and carefully pour the Thai tea mixture over the ice, filling each glass to your desired level.
- Gently stir to combine and serve chilled. For an elegant touch, drizzle additional sweetened condensed milk over the top before serving.
Tips
- For a more authentic flavor, look for Thai tea leaves at an Asian grocery store.
- You can also experiment by adding spices like star anise or cardamom during the steeping process for a unique twist.
- If you prefer a non-dairy version, substitute the sweetened condensed milk with coconut milk or almond milk.
