Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder until well combined.
- In another shallow bowl, beat the egg and milk together until smooth.
- Take each white fish fillet and coat it first in the flour mixture, then dip it into the egg mixture, and finally return it to the flour mixture. Press gently to ensure the coating adheres well.
- Arrange the coated fish fillets in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray for extra crispiness.
- In a separate bowl, toss the cut potatoes with olive oil and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt until evenly coated.
- Add the seasoned potatoes to the air fryer basket alongside the fish fillets.
- Cook for 10 minutes, then carefully flip the fish fillets and shake the basket to toss the potatoes. Continue cooking for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is golden brown and crispy and the potatoes are cooked through.
- Remove the dish from the air fryer and serve immediately with tartar sauce and ketchup on the side.
Tips
- For an extra kick, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
- Feel free to use sweet potatoes for a twist on the traditional fries.
- Make sure to pat the fish dry before coating to help the batter stick better.
