Servings: 10
Ingredients
- Mushrooms (20 large, cleaned and stems removed)
- Bacon (6 slices, chopped)
- Onion (1 medium, finely chopped)
- Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
- Cream cheese (8 ounces, softened)
- Cheddar cheese (1 cup, shredded)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- Black pepper (1/4 teaspoon)
- Olive oil (1 tablespoon (for greasing the baking sheet))
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until it becomes crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet, leaving the drippings, and set it aside on a paper towel to drain.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onions to the bacon drippings and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- In a large mixing bowl, crumble the cooked bacon and combine it with the sautéed onions, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the ingredients are well incorporated and creamy.
- Lightly grease a baking sheet with olive oil. Stuff each mushroom cap generously with the bacon and onion mixture, pressing down slightly to pack it in securely.
- Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are spaced evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for the best flavor!
