Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Chicken broth
2 cups
Fresh thyme
1 tablespoon, chopped
Fresh sage
1 tablespoon, chopped
Fresh parsley
2 tablespoons, chopped
Butter
4 tablespoons
Celery
1 cup, diced
Onion
1 large, diced
Boston brown bread
8 cups, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed brown bread, cooked onion and celery mixture, and the chopped herbs (parsley, sage, and thyme). Toss to combine.
  4. Season the bread mixture with salt and ground black pepper to your taste.
  5. Slowly pour the chicken broth over the bread mixture, stirring gently to ensure the mixture is evenly moistened.
  6. Transfer the stuffing mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes.
  8. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Allow the stuffing to rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy this savory side dish as part of your Thanksgiving or holiday feast!
