Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Gently mix and form into 4 equal patties, making a small indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness (160°F for medium).
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the bourbon glaze. In a small saucepan, combine the bourbon, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and cook until the mixture reduces by half, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Once the burgers are nearly done, brush each patty generously with the bourbon glaze and cook for an additional minute per side to allow the glaze to set.
- To assemble, place each burger on a toasted bun. Top with caramelized onions, lettuce, and fresh tomato slices. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Tips
- For added flavor, consider mixing some crumbled blue cheese or sharp cheddar into the ground beef before forming patties.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the bourbon glaze.
- Feel free to customize your toppings with pickles, avocado, or your favorite barbecue sauce.
