Sink your teeth into this mouthwatering balsamic glazed burger, where juicy ground beef meets a luscious sweet and tangy balsamic reduction. Topped with crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes, this burger is a delightful spin on the classic backyard favorite. The balsamic glaze not only elevates the flavor profile but also adds a gourmet touch that will impress your family and friends. Perfect for summer cookouts or cozy dinners, this burger brings together simple ingredients in a harmonious blend of taste and texture.
Ingredients
- Ground beef
- 1 pound (preferably 80% lean)
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 cup
- Brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons
- Tomato
- 1 large, sliced
- Lettuce
- 4 leaves (such as romaine or iceberg)
- Hamburger buns
- 4
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, and cook until the mixture reduces by half and becomes syrupy, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until just combined. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the burgers for about 5 minutes on one side, then flip and continue cooking for another 5 minutes, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, brush the burgers generously with the balsamic glaze to impart flavor and a beautiful shine.
- Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve on hamburger buns, topped with fresh lettuce and tomato slices. Drizzle with additional balsamic glaze if desired.
Tips
- For added flavor, consider mixing in some finely chopped herbs like basil or parsley into the ground beef.
- Try adding a slice of fresh mozzarella or goat cheese on top of the burger during the last minute of cooking for a creamy finish.
- Serve with sweet potato fries or a simple arugula salad to complement the flavors.
