Broccoli Parmesan Pasta
Indulge in this exquisite Broccoli Parmesan Pasta, a delightful vegetarian dish that brings together the florets of vibrant, crunchy broccoli and the rich, nutty taste of Parmesan cheese. Tossed together in a golden olive oil infused with a hint of garlic and a pinch of red pepper flakes, this meal is a symphony of flavors that is as delightful as it is quick and easy to prepare. A classic Italian dish, it harks back to simpler times in Italy where recipes were passed down through generations and food was a language of love.
Ingredients
- Salt and pepper
- to taste
- Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup, grated
- Red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Broccoli
- 2 cups, cut into florets
- Pasta
- 200 grams
Instructions
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta as per the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
- In the meantime, steam the broccoli florets in a steamer or a pot with a little water until they become tender. This should take about 5 minutes. Set aside.
- Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, allowing them to cook for 1-2 minutes until they release their fragrant aroma.
- Add the cooked pasta and steamed broccoli to the skillet, tossing them gently in the aromatic oil to combine.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, adding salt and pepper to taste. Mix well, allowing the cheese to melt and coat the pasta and broccoli evenly.
- Allow the dish to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Serve the pasta hot, garnishing it with a little extra Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy your meal!
Tips
- You can use any type of pasta you prefer, but penne, farfalle, and fusilli are particularly good at holding onto the cheesy sauce.
- For a vegan version, replace the Parmesan cheese with a vegan cheese of your choice or nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor.
- Adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice at the end can brighten up the flavors.
