
Chicken Parmesan Sandwich
This delicious chicken Parmesan sandwich is made with breaded chicken, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, served on a toasted bun.
Ingredients
- Fresh basil (a few leaves)
- Buns (2, toasted)
- Mozzarella cheese (1/2 cup, shredded)
- Marinara sauce (1/2 cup)
- Vegetable oil (2 tablespoons)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Italian seasoning (1 teaspoon)
- Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup, grated)
- Breadcrumbs (1 cup)
- Egg (1)
- Chicken breasts (2 boneless, skinless)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness, then season with salt and pepper.
- In a shallow dish, beat the egg. In another shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the breaded chicken breasts for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the cooked chicken breasts to a baking sheet. Top each breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Place each chicken breast on a toasted bun and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
