- 2 cups
- Granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups
- Unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup, softened
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons
- All-purpose flour
- 2 cups
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and dust it with flour to prevent the cake from sticking.

- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the ricotta cheese, eggs, and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Continue to mix until the ingredients are well combined.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix them together until they are just combined, making sure not to overmix to keep the cake light and fluffy.
- Fold in the chocolate chips into the batter using a spatula.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Before serving, dust the cake with powdered sugar for a sweet finish.
Tips
- For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding some orange zest to the batter, or swap the vanilla extract for almond extract.
- You can also replace the chocolate chips with dark chocolate chunks for a more intense chocolate flavor.
- Serve the cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
