Eezgii - Mongolian Stir Fry

Experience the tantalizing flavors of Mongolia with Eezgii, a vibrant and savory stir fry. This delightful dish is a symphony of flavors, harmoniously blending tender chicken, crunchy bell peppers, aromatic garlic, and ginger, all drenched in a luscious sauce made from hoisin and soy. It's then garnished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and fresh green onions for that extra punch of flavor. Eezgii is traditionally enjoyed in the chilly Mongolian winters and is renowned for its warming and comforting properties.

Ingredients

Sesame seeds
1 tablespoon
Green onions
2, chopped
Cooked rice
4 cups
Salt and pepper
to taste
Red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon
Sesame oil
2 tablespoons
Hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Fresh ginger
1 inch piece, grated
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Onion
1 medium, sliced
Bell peppers
2, sliced
Chicken breast
2, cubed

Instructions

  1. Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the cubed chicken to the skillet and cook until it's browned and cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. Using the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Saute the vegetables until they become tender, which should take about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and sauté for an additional minute until they become fragrant.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Add the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir well to ensure the chicken and vegetables are thoroughly coated with the sauce.
  6. Let the mixture cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the flavors have melded together.
  7. Serve the Eezgii over a bed of cooked rice. Garnish the dish with the chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Enjoy your flavorful Mongolian stir fry!

Tips

  • 💡 Feel free to substitute the chicken with tofu or shrimp for a different protein option. You can also add other vegetables like broccoli or snow peas for more variety.
