Bring the rich flavors of Mexico to your kitchen with these crispy and delectable Chicken Flautas. These flutes of golden-brown deliciousness are generously stuffed with spiced shredded chicken and fried to perfection. Serves 6

Ingredients

Cilantro
1 bunch, finely chopped
Salsa
1 cup
Sour Cream
1/2 cup
Shredded Cheese
1 cup
Black Pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Chili Powder
1 tablespoon
Cumin
1 teaspoon
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Onion
1, finely chopped
Vegetable Oil
1/2 cup for frying
Flour Tortillas
12 (6-inch size)
Cooked Chicken
2 cups, shredded

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion becomes translucent, this should take about 5 minutes.
  3. To the skillet, add the shredded chicken, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together and let it cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavors.
  4. Warm the flour tortillas in the microwave for about 10 seconds until they become pliable. This will prevent them from breaking as you roll them.
  5. Place a spoonful of the flavorful chicken mixture onto each tortilla. Roll them tightly into a flute shape, ensuring the filling is secure inside.
  6. Add more oil to the skillet if needed, then place the rolled flautas seam-side down. Cook each side until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove the crispy flautas from the skillet and drain excess oil on a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. Serve your authentic Mexican Flautas topped with a sprinkle of shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, some zesty salsa, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Enjoy!

Tips

  • 💡 To make your flautas extra crispy, ensure the oil is hot before adding the flautas.
  • 💡 For a healthier version, bake the flautas in an oven preheated to 400°F (200°C) for about 15 minutes until crispy.
  • 💡 You can also use beef or pork instead of chicken for a variation.
