Ingredients

  • Whole turkey (1 (12-15 pounds))
  • Chicken broth (2 cups)
  • Butter (1/2 cup, melted)
  • Honey (1/2 cup)
  • Dried lavender (2 tablespoons)
  • Salt (1 tablespoon)
  • Black pepper (1 teaspoon)
  • Garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Onion powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Paprika (1 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Rinse your turkey thoroughly under cold water, then pat it dry using paper towels. Make sure to dry both inside and outside of the turkey.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, honey, dried lavender, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Stir until you have a smooth and well-blended glaze.
  4. Generously brush the glaze all over the turkey, ensuring every nook and cranny is covered for an even and flavorful roast.
  5. Place the turkey breast-side up on a rack in a roasting pan. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan. This will keep your turkey moist and provide a base for a delicious gravy.
  6. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil. This prevents the skin from burning and allows the turkey to cook evenly.
  7. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for 3 hours. Baste the turkey with the pan juices every 30 minutes to keep it succulent and moist.
  8. Remove the foil and continue roasting for another 1 hour, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh registers 165°F (74°C).
  9. Once the turkey is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the turkey, making it more moist and flavorful.
  10. Carve the turkey and serve it with your favorite side dishes. Enjoy the applause from your delighted guests.
