Experience the vibrant flavors and rich culture of Mexico with each bite of this traditional guacamole recipe. Succulent ripe avocados, tangy fresh lime juice, juicy tomatoes, crisp red onions, refreshing cilantro, and a blend of zesty spices come together to create a creamy, flavorful dip that is the perfect companion to your tortilla chips and Mexican dishes. This recipe is deeply rooted in Mexican traditions, dating back to the time of the Aztecs who considered avocados as a highly nutritious and sacred fruit.

Servings: 4-6

Ingredients

Ripe avocados
3 medium
Fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons
Tomato
1 medium, diced
Red onion
1 small, finely chopped
Fresh cilantro
1/4 cup, finely chopped
Garlic
1 clove, minced
Jalapeno
1, seeds removed and finely chopped
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half lengthwise. Remove the pits and use a spoon to scoop out the flesh. Place the avocado flesh in a large bowl.
  2. Drizzle the fresh lime juice over the avocados. This not only adds tanginess but also prevents the avocados from browning. Mash the avocados with a fork until you reach your desired consistency. For a chunkier guacamole, mash less.
  3. Add the diced tomato, chopped red onion, cilantro, minced garlic, and chopped jalapeno to the bowl.
  4. Season with salt, ground cumin, and black pepper. Stir all the ingredients until well combined.
  5. Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasonings if needed. For a spicier kick, add more jalapeno. If it's too thick, a splash more lime juice can thin it out and add more tang.
  6. Serve the guacamole immediately for the best flavor, accompanied by tortilla chips, or as a delicious topping for tacos, burritos, or quesadillas. Enjoy the burst of flavors that bring the Mexican tradition right to your table.
