Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced nectarines with lemon juice and granulated sugar. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to allow the nectarines to release their delicious juices.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces remaining.
- Transfer the nectarines to a baking dish, spreading them out evenly to create a beautiful layer.
- Generously sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top of the nectarines, covering them completely.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the nectarines are tender and the crumble topping is a beautiful golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for that extra touch of indulgence.
Tips
- For added depth of flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the crumble mixture.
- You can substitute half of the nectarines with peaches or plums for a mixed fruit crumble.
- This crumble can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving for a warm dessert.
