Ingredients

Original recipe serves 6

Ripe nectarines
4, peeled and pitted
Sugar
3/4 cup
Whole milk
1 cup
Heavy cream
2 cups
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Lemon juice
1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Begin by peeling and pitting the nectarines. Chop them into small pieces.
  2. In a blender or food processor, puree the chopped nectarines until smooth. You can leave some small chunks for texture if desired.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the nectarine puree, sugar, heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated and the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  5. Once the ice cream has reached the desired texture, transfer it to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours to allow it to firm up.
  6. When ready to serve, scoop the nectarine ice cream into bowls or cones. For an extra touch, garnish with fresh mint leaves or a drizzle of honey.

Tips

  • 💡 For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of salt to enhance the sweetness of the nectarines.
  • 💡 If you don't have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze it, stirring every 30 minutes for the first 2-3 hours to break up ice crystals.
  • 💡 Feel free to experiment by adding other fruits, such as peaches or plums, for a mixed fruit ice cream.
