Ingredients
- All-purpose flour (4 cups, plus extra for dusting)
- Active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet))
- Warm milk (1 cup (110°f or 43°c))
- Granulated sugar (1/2 cup)
- Unsalted butter (1/4 cup, melted, plus more for greasing)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- Orange zest (2 tablespoons)
- Ground cinnamon (2 tablespoons)
- Powdered sugar (1 cup)
- Freshly squeezed orange juice (2-3 tablespoons)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, warm milk, granulated sugar, melted butter, salt, and orange zest. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle shape on a floured surface, about 1/4 inch thick.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon and granulated sugar. Evenly sprinkle this mixture over the rolled-out dough.
- Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log shape.
- Cut the log into 12 equal-sized rolls and place them in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and freshly squeezed orange juice until smooth.
- Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and immediately drizzle the glaze over the top while they are still warm.
- Serve warm and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors!
