Pan Seared Sea Bass with Garlic Lemon Butter

Experience the delightful combination of crispy skin and tender flesh with this pan-seared sea bass, enhanced by a rich garlic lemon butter sauce. This dish is not only quick and easy to prepare but also packed with flavor, making it a perfect choice for a weeknight meal or an elegant dinner party. Sea bass, known for its mild taste and flaky texture, has been a favorite in Mediterranean cuisine for centuries, often celebrated in coastal regions for its fresh catch and culinary versatility.

Ingredients

Sea bass fillets
4 (6-ounce) fillets
Salt
to taste
Black pepper
to taste
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Butter
3 tablespoons
Garlic
4 cloves, minced
Lemon
1, sliced
Fresh parsley
2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by patting the sea bass fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Carefully place the sea bass fillets in the skillet, skin side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes without moving them, until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  4. Gently flip the fillets and add the butter, minced garlic, and lemon slices to the skillet.
  5. Continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, basting the fillets with the melted butter mixture. This will infuse the fish with delicious flavors.
  6. Once cooked through (the fish should flake easily with a fork), remove the sea bass from the skillet and transfer to a serving plate.
  7. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and additional lemon slices, if desired. Serve immediately while hot.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine to the skillet after flipping the fish.
  • 💡 If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture.
