The Sahel Sorghum Latte is a delightful fusion of hearty grains and warming spices, hailing from the Sahel region in Africa where sorghum is a staple. This nourishing beverage combines the earthy, slightly sweet flavor of sorghum flour with the creaminess of milk, the natural sweetness of honey, and a comforting blend of spices. The result is a delicious and nutritious treat that's perfect for sipping on a cozy afternoon or enjoying as a soothing evening drink.

Servings: 2

Ingredients

Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon
Ground cardamom
1/2 teaspoon
Ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon
Honey
2 tablespoons
Milk
2 cups
Sorghum flour
1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the sorghum flour and milk until there are no lumps and the mixture is well combined.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly to prevent the mixture from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Cook until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle simmer.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the honey, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, ground nutmeg, and vanilla extract until well incorporated.
  4. Pour the hot latte into mugs. Serve immediately and enjoy the warmth and comfort of this traditional African beverage.
