Indulge in the rich, savory flavors of this tender slow-cooked brisket, a beloved dish in many cultures, particularly among Jewish and American cuisines. The brisket is infused with a fragrant blend of spices and vegetables, resulting in melt-in-your-mouth meat that pairs beautifully with the savory cooking liquid. Perfect for family gatherings or special occasions, this dish evokes warmth and comfort in every bite.

Servings: 6-8

Ingredients

Beef brisket
3-4 pounds
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Yellow onion
1, sliced
Carrots
2, peeled and chopped
Celery
2 stalks, chopped
Beef broth
2 cups
Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons
Paprika
1 tablespoon
Onion powder
1 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to create a spice rub.
  2. Generously rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring an even coating for maximum flavor.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 5 minutes each side. This step enhances the flavor through caramelization.
  4. In the bottom of the slow cooker, layer the sliced onion, chopped carrots, and celery. These vegetables will add flavor and serve as a bed for the brisket.
  5. Place the seared brisket on top of the vegetable layer in the slow cooker.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then pour this mixture over the brisket.
  7. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low heat. Cook for 8 hours, or until the brisket is incredibly tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
  8. Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat moist.
  9. Serve the sliced brisket alongside the flavorful vegetables and drizzle with the cooking liquid for added richness.
