Perfect for family gatherings or special occasions, this dish evokes warmth and comfort in every bite.
Servings: 6-8
Ingredients
- Beef brisket
- 3-4 pounds
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Yellow onion
- 1, sliced
- Carrots
- 2, peeled and chopped
- Celery
- 2 stalks, chopped
- Beef broth
- 2 cups
- Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons
- Paprika
- 1 tablespoon
- Onion powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1 teaspoon
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to create a spice rub.
- Generously rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring an even coating for maximum flavor.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 5 minutes each side. This step enhances the flavor through caramelization.
- In the bottom of the slow cooker, layer the sliced onion, chopped carrots, and celery. These vegetables will add flavor and serve as a bed for the brisket.
- Place the seared brisket on top of the vegetable layer in the slow cooker.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then pour this mixture over the brisket.
- Cover the slow cooker and set it to low heat. Cook for 8 hours, or until the brisket is incredibly tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
- Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat moist.
- Serve the sliced brisket alongside the flavorful vegetables and drizzle with the cooking liquid for added richness.
