
Spaghetti Bolognese
A classic Italian dish made with ground beef, tomatoes, and herbs, served over spaghetti.
Ingredients
- Fresh basil (for garnish)
- Parmesan cheese (1/4 cup, grated)
- Spaghetti (8 ounces)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Dried basil (1 teaspoon)
- Dried oregano (1 teaspoon)
- Tomato paste (2 tablespoons)
- Canned crushed tomatoes (1 can (28 ounces))
- Ground beef (1 pound)
- Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
- Onion (1, finely chopped)
- Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the sauce for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- Drain the spaghetti and toss with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Serve the spaghetti topped with the Bolognese sauce.
- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
