Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Tofu (14 oz, firm or extra-firm)
- Greek yogurt (1 cup)
- Lemon juice (2 tablespoons)
- Garlic (4 cloves, minced)
- Ginger (1 tablespoon, grated)
- Tandoori masala (2 tablespoons)
- Paprika (1 teaspoon)
- Turmeric (1 teaspoon)
- Cumin (1 teaspoon)
- Coriander (1 teaspoon)
- Salt (1 teaspoon)
- Vegetable oil (2 tablespoons (for grilling))
- Lemon wedges (for serving)
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture, which helps it absorb the marinade better. Cut the pressed tofu into cubes or your desired shape.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, tandoori masala, paprika, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and salt until smooth. This spicy, tangy marinade is the key to infusing flavor into the tofu.
- Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, tossing gently to coat each piece thoroughly. For best results, let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
- If using skewers, thread the marinated tofu cubes onto them. Alternatively, you can place the tofu directly on the grill grates.
- Grill the tofu for approximately 5-7 minutes per side, or until it is nicely charred and heated through. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
- Once grilled, remove the tofu from the heat and garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of freshness.
