Ingredients

  • Ground turkey (1 lb)
  • Plain breadcrumbs (1/2 cup)
  • Greek yogurt (1/4 cup, plus more for serving)
  • Tandoori masala spice blend (2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
  • Fresh ginger (1 tablespoon, grated)
  • Fresh cilantro (1/4 cup, chopped)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Black pepper (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Red onion (1, sliced into rings)
  • Tomato (1, sliced)
  • Lettuce (4 leaves)
  • Burger buns (4, toasted)
  • Olive oil (1 tablespoon (for grilling))

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Greek yogurt, tandoori masala, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, ensuring they are even for uniform cooking.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat and lightly brush with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook the turkey burgers for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks, ensuring the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute, or until lightly browned.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing one turkey patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top each patty with a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a few rings of red onion. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
  7. Serve the Tandoori Turkey Burgers hot, along with a generous dollop of Greek yogurt and your favorite sides.
