Ingredients

Original recipe serves 8

Greek yogurt
2 cups, preferably full-fat
Cucumber
1 medium, grated and excess water squeezed out
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Fresh dill
2 tablespoons, finely chopped
Lemon juice
1 tablespoon, freshly squeezed
Extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon, or to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with the grated cucumber. Ensure to squeeze out as much excess water from the cucumber as possible to prevent a watery sauce.
  2. Add the minced garlic, finely chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil to the bowl.
  3. Sprinkle in the salt and black pepper. Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly until well combined.
  4. Taste the tzatziki and adjust the seasoning with more salt or pepper if desired.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. This resting time allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
  6. Serve chilled as a dip with warm pita bread, an assortment of fresh vegetables, or as a zesty condiment for gyros, kebabs, or grilled meats.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
  • 💡 If you prefer a smoother texture, blend the ingredients in a food processor.
  • 💡 Tzatziki can be made a day in advance, making it perfect for meal prep or parties.
