Ingredients
- Olive oil
- 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper
- 1 teaspoon, freshly ground
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder
- 1 tablespoon
- Cumin
- 1 teaspoon, ground
- Garlic
- 4 cloves, minced
- Orange juice
- 1/2 cup, freshly squeezed
- Lime juice
- 1/4 cup, freshly squeezed
- Flank steak
- 1.5 lbs
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the freshly squeezed lime juice, orange juice, minced garlic, ground cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to prepare the marinade.
- Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Ensure the steak is well coated. Seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for maximum flavor infusion.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Remove the flank steak from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels. Discard the leftover marinade.
- Brush both sides of the steak with olive oil to ensure a crispy exterior.
- Carefully place the steak in the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes.
- Flip the steak and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130-135°F.
- Allow the steak to rest for at least 5 minutes after removing it from the air fryer. This lets the juices redistribute throughout the steak, ensuring a tender and juicy bite.
- Slice the carne asada against the grain and serve with your favorite accompaniments, such as tortillas, salsa, guacamole, and grilled vegetables.
