Crispy Parmesan Air Fryer Mushrooms

Prepare to be delighted by these Crispy Parmesan Air Fryer Mushrooms. The perfect blend of earthy mushrooms, aromatic herbs, and crunchy breadcrumb coating makes them an irresistible appetizer or versatile side dish. Originating from Italy where mushrooms are a staple, this dish is a modern, healthier take on the traditional fried mushrooms, making use of the air fryer for a guilt-free crunch!

Serves 4

Ingredients

Fresh parsley
2 tablespoons, finely chopped
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, finely grated
Breadcrumbs
1/2 cup
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon, freshly ground
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Paprika
1/2 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Button mushrooms
1 pound, cleaned and stems removed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
  3. Add cleaned mushrooms to the bowl and toss until they are well coated in the spice and oil mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, finely grated Parmesan cheese, and finely chopped fresh parsley. Mix until well combined.
  5. Dip each mushroom in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Press the mixture gently to adhere.
  6. Arrange the coated mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Ensure not to overcrowd to achieve maximum crispiness.
  7. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, or until the mushrooms are golden brown and crispy. Halfway through, shake the basket to ensure even cooking.
  8. Serve these crispy delights hot as an appetizer or as a tantalizing side dish with your main course. Enjoy!

Tips

  • 💡 For a gluten-free version, substitute the breadcrumbs with almond meal. Feel free to experiment with different types of mushrooms like shiitake or portobello for varied flavors and textures. You could also add a squeeze of lemon for added zest or sprinkle some chili flakes for a spicy kick!
