4 large mushrooms, stems removed

2 tablespoons
Balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
1 tablespoon
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Hamburger buns
4, toasted
Mayonnaise
2 tablespoons
Mustard
1 tablespoon
Lettuce
4 leaves, washed
Tomato
1, sliced
Red onion
1 small, thinly sliced
Pickles
4 slices

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and olive oil to create the marinade.
  2. Place the portobello mushrooms in a shallow dish and brush both sides with the marinade. Allow them to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, ensuring it is clean and well-oiled.
  4. Grill the marinated portobello mushrooms for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are tender and juicy, with nice grill marks.
  5. While the mushrooms are grilling, toast the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden and crisp.
  6. Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  7. Top each bun with a grilled portobello mushroom, followed by a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, red onion rings, and a pickle slice.
