Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade and barbecue sauce.
- Place the pork shoulder in a roasting pan and pour the sauce over it, ensuring the pork is fully coated from all sides.
- Cover the roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil and roast in the oven for 6 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender and easily shreds.
- Remove the pork from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before shredding it with two forks.
- Return the shredded pork to the roasting pan, mixing it with any remaining barbecue sauce to ensure it is well-coated.
- Increase the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and return the pan to the oven, uncovered, for an additional 30 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Toast the hamburger buns, if desired, for added texture.
- Assemble the sandwiches by placing a generous serving of pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun, then top with coleslaw for added crunch. Place the top half of the bun on top.
- Serve warm and enjoy the smoky, savory flavors!
Tips
- For an extra kick, add some cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the barbecue sauce.
- Consider using a slow cooker for convenience; simply cook on low for 8-10 hours.
- Serve with pickles or jalapeños for a tangy contrast.
- This pulled pork is also great as a topping for nachos or baked potatoes!
