This recipe brings you tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs, marinated with a flavorful rub, slow-grilled to perfection, and smothered in a tangy homemade BBQ sauce. Originating from the southern United States, BBQ ribs have become a universal symbol of a hearty, homestyle meal. Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Black pepper (1 tablespoon)
  • Salt (2 tablespoons)
  • Paprika (2 tablespoons)
  • Onion powder (1 tablespoon)
  • Garlic powder (1 tablespoon)
  • Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
  • Apple cider vinegar (1/2 cup)
  • BBQ sauce (2 cups)
  • BBQ rub (1/4 cup)
  • Pork ribs (2 racks)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to a medium heat, around 300°F (150°C).
  2. While the grill is heating, prepare the rub. In a small bowl, combine the BBQ rub, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  3. Pat the ribs dry with a kitchen towel, then apply the rub mixture evenly over all sides of the ribs, rubbing it in for maximum flavor.
  4. Place the ribs bone-side down on the grill. Cover and cook for 2 hours, flipping every 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  5. While the ribs are grilling, prepare the BBQ sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is warm and slightly thickened.
  6. After 2 hours, brush the ribs generously with the BBQ sauce mixture. Continue cooking for another 1-2 hours, brushing with more sauce every 30 minutes, until the ribs are tender and the meat is starting to pull away from the bones.
  7. Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in moister ribs.
  8. Serve the Smoky BBQ Ribs with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy with a side of coleslaw or cornbread for a complete southern-style meal.
