Experience the vibrant flavors of Asian cuisine with this delightful Bok Choy and Beef Stir Fry. Tender, juicy beef sirloin is quickly seared to perfection, then combined with crisp bok choy and aromatic ginger and garlic, all coated in a luscious sauce that brings the dish together. Historically, stir-frying originated in China and has since become a method loved worldwide for its efficiency and ability to preserve the nutrients in vegetables.

Ingredients

Beef sirloin
1 pound, thinly sliced
Bok choy
4 cups, chopped
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 tablespoon, minced
Vegetable oil
2 tablespoons
Sesame oil
1 tablespoon
Soy sauce
3 tablespoons
Oyster sauce
2 tablespoons
Cornstarch
1 tablespoon
Salt
to taste
Pepper
to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch until smooth. Set this sauce mixture aside to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet, spreading it out in an even layer. Stir fry for 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  4. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir fry for about 1 minute, or until fragrant, making sure not to burn them.
  5. Add the chopped bok choy to the skillet and stir fry for 2-3 minutes, or until the bok choy is wilted and tender yet still vibrant and crisp.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the sauce mixture over the beef and bok choy.
  7. Stir fry everything together for another 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the ingredients evenly.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Give it one final stir to incorporate.
  9. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles, and enjoy!

Tips

  • 💡 For added flavor, marinate the beef in soy sauce and ginger for 15-30 minutes before cooking.
  • 💡 Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers, snap peas, or carrots for a colorful twist.
  • 💡 Serve with steamed jasmine rice or rice noodles to complement the dish.
