Servings: 8

Ingredients

Cilantro
1/2 cup, chopped
Green onions
4, chopped
Carrot
1 large, julienned
Cucumber
1, julienned
Tortillas
8
Brown sugar
1/4 cup
Rice vinegar
2 tablespoons
Hoisin sauce
1/2 cup + additional for drizzling
Soy sauce
1/3 cup
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Chinese five spice powder
1 tablespoon
Pork spare ribs
2 pounds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the Chinese five spice powder, garlic powder, soy sauce, 1/2 cup hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar to create the marinade.
  3. Place the spare ribs in a baking dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. For best results, marinate for at least 30 minutes, or even better, overnight.
  4. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake the ribs for 1.5 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
  5. Remove the ribs from the oven and let them cool slightly. Once cooled enough to handle, shred the meat off the bones using a fork.
  6. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
  7. To assemble the wraps, lay out a warm tortilla and spread a generous spoonful of the shredded spare ribs in the center. Top with the julienned cucumber, carrot, chopped green onions, and a sprinkle of cilantro.
  8. Drizzle a bit of additional hoisin sauce over the fillings for an extra burst of flavor.
  9. Roll up the tortilla tightly, folding in the sides as you roll to keep the fillings secure.
  10. Serve the wraps immediately while warm, and enjoy this unique twist on a classic Chinese BBQ dish!
