Servings: 8
Ingredients
- Cilantro
- 1/2 cup, chopped
- Green onions
- 4, chopped
- Carrot
- 1 large, julienned
- Cucumber
- 1, julienned
- Tortillas
- 8
- Brown sugar
- 1/4 cup
- Rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons
- Hoisin sauce
- 1/2 cup + additional for drizzling
- Soy sauce
- 1/3 cup
- Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Chinese five spice powder
- 1 tablespoon
- Pork spare ribs
- 2 pounds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the Chinese five spice powder, garlic powder, soy sauce, 1/2 cup hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar to create the marinade.
- Place the spare ribs in a baking dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. For best results, marinate for at least 30 minutes, or even better, overnight.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake the ribs for 1.5 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
- Remove the ribs from the oven and let them cool slightly. Once cooled enough to handle, shred the meat off the bones using a fork.
- Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
- To assemble the wraps, lay out a warm tortilla and spread a generous spoonful of the shredded spare ribs in the center. Top with the julienned cucumber, carrot, chopped green onions, and a sprinkle of cilantro.
- Drizzle a bit of additional hoisin sauce over the fillings for an extra burst of flavor.
- Roll up the tortilla tightly, folding in the sides as you roll to keep the fillings secure.
- Serve the wraps immediately while warm, and enjoy this unique twist on a classic Chinese BBQ dish!
