
Chocolate Chip Cinnamon Rolls
These delicious homemade cinnamon rolls are filled with chocolate chips and topped with a creamy glaze.
Ingredients
- Milk (2 tablespoons)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Powdered sugar (1 cup)
- Ground cinnamon (2 teaspoons)
- Brown sugar (1/2 cup)
- Chocolate chips (1 cup)
- Egg (1)
- Unsalted butter (1/2 cup, melted)
- Milk (1 cup, warmed)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- Granulated sugar (1/4 cup)
- Active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- All (purpose flour - 4 cups)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape on a floured surface.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Starting from one long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log shape.
- Cut the log into 12 equal-sized rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving some space between each roll.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk to make the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls.
