Ingredients

Butter

Brown sugar

Apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup
Red wine vinegar
1/4 cup
Onion
1 large, sliced
Apple
1 medium, cored and chopped
Red cabbage
1 medium head, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chopped apple and cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Add the shredded red cabbage to the pot, followed by the red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are evenly combined.
  5. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low, allowing the mixture to simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Stir occasionally, until the cabbage becomes tender and deeply flavored.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
