Homemade Apple Fritters

These homemade apple fritters are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and filled with delicious chunks of apple.

Ingredients

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Vegetable oil (2 cups, for frying)
  • Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  • Egg (1)
  • Milk (1/2 cup)
  • Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Baking powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Granulated sugar (1/4 cup)
  • All (purpose flour - 1 cup)
  • Apples (2 medium, peeled, cored, and diced)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Fold in the diced apples.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying 3-4 fritters at a time.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove the fritters from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  9. Repeat with the remaining batter and apples.
  10. Dust the fritters with powdered sugar before serving.
