Maeun Tang: Spicy Korean Seafood Stew
Maeun Tang is a fiery and flavorful Korean seafood stew that warms the heart and soul. Bursting with spicy, tangy, and umami flavors, it is a dish deeply rooted in Korean culinary tradition. Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Sesame oil
- 4 cloves, minced Garlic
- 1 inch piece, minced Ginger
- 6, sliced Green onions
- 3 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
- 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Fish sauce
- 8 cups Water
- 2 cups, cut into bite-sized pieces Fish fillets
- 1 cup, peeled and deveined Shrimp
- 1 cup, cleaned Clams
- 1 cup, cleaned Mussels
- 1 cup, cleaned and sliced Squid
- 1 block, cut into cubes Tofu
- to taste Salt
- to taste Red pepper flakes

Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic, minced ginger, and half of the sliced green onions. Sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the gochujang, soy sauce, and fish sauce, making sure to combine well.
- Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Add the fish fillets, shrimp, clams, mussels, and squid to the pot. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through.
- Add the cubed tofu and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Season the stew with salt and red pepper flakes according to your preference.
- Serve the stew piping hot, garnished with the remaining green onions. Enjoy this delightful taste of Korean cuisine!
