Ingredients

Original recipe serves 10

Ham
1 (5-7 pounds)
Orange juice
1 cup, freshly squeezed
Dijon mustard
1/2 cup
Honey
1/4 cup
Brown sugar
1/2 cup, packed
Ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon, freshly ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Place the ham in a roasting pan and score the surface in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep. This allows the glaze to penetrate and flavor the meat.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange juice, Dijon mustard, honey, brown sugar, ground cloves, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Generously brush the glaze mixture all over the ham, ensuring to get into the scored cuts for maximum flavor.
  5. Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil to prevent it from drying out, and bake for 1 hour.
  6. After 1 hour, remove the foil and baste the ham with the pan juices. This adds moisture and enhances the glaze's flavor.
  7. Continue baking the ham uncovered for another 30-45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C). Baste every 15 minutes for a beautifully caramelized crust.
  8. Once cooked, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute for a moist and tender result.
  9. Serve the sliced glazed ham with the pan juices drizzled over the top for added flavor.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme to the glaze.
  • 💡 If you prefer a spicier kick, add a dash of cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce to the glaze.
  • 💡 Leftover ham can be used in sandwiches, salads, or pasta dishes, making it a versatile option for meals after the main event.
