Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the orange juice, soy sauce, honey, and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside to allow the cornstarch to dissolve.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add the chicken pieces to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Add the broccoli florets and bell pepper slices to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour in the orange sauce mixture and stir well to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken and vegetables.
- Stir in the orange zest and the sliced green onions. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve the orange chicken stir fry hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
Tips
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes or sliced fresh chili peppers when cooking the garlic and ginger.
- Feel free to use other vegetables such as snap peas or carrots depending on your preference.
- You can substitute the chicken with tofu for a vegetarian option.
