Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Place the ham in a large roasting pan, fat side up, and score the surface in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife, about 1/4 inch deep.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the orange juice, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and orange zest. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
- Brush a generous amount of the glaze over the ham, ensuring it seeps into the scored cuts.
- Insert cloves into the scored cuts for added flavor and garnish.
- Cover the ham loosely with foil to retain moisture and bake for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, carefully remove the foil and brush the ham again with more glaze.
- Continue to bake uncovered for an additional 30-45 minutes, or until the ham is golden brown and heated through (an internal temperature of 140°F).
- Let the ham rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the juices to redistribute for maximum flavor.
Tips
- For a spicier glaze, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the orange glaze mixture.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the glaze for a few extra minutes until it reduces slightly.
- This dish pairs beautifully with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh green salad.
