Enhanced Peach Chutney

This luscious peach chutney combines the sweetness of ripe peaches with the tang of apple cider vinegar, creating a delightful balance of flavors that dance on your palate. Perfectly suited for pairing with grilled meats, cheese platters, or even as a topping for sandwiches, this chutney adds a burst of summer to any dish. Historically, chutneys originated in India, where they were used to enhance the flavors of main dishes, and have since evolved into a favorite condiment around the world.

Serves 8

Ingredients

Peaches
4 cups, peeled and diced
Red onion
1 cup, finely chopped
Apple cider vinegar
1 cup
Brown sugar
3/4 cup
Raisins
1/2 cup
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 tablespoon, grated
Mustard seeds
1 tablespoon
Cinnamon
1 teaspoon
Cloves
1/4 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the diced peaches, chopped red onion, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, raisins, minced garlic, grated ginger, mustard seeds, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the chutney to cool completely at room temperature.
  5. Transfer the chutney into sterilized jars, seal them properly, and refrigerate for at least 24 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve chilled or at room temperature alongside grilled meats, cheeses, or as a spread on sandwiches.

Tips

  • 💡 For added heat, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes or finely chopped fresh chili.
  • 💡 If peaches are out of season, feel free to substitute with nectarines or apricots for a different flavor profile.
  • 💡 This chutney can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
