Ingredients
- Salsa
- 1 cup
- Sour cream
- 1/2 cup
- Tomato
- 1, diced
- Lettuce
- 1 cup, shredded
- Cheddar cheese
- 1 cup, shredded
- Flour tortillas
- 4
- Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin
- 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Tomato sauce
- 1 cup
- Pinto beans
- 1 can (15 ounce), drained and rinsed
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Onion
- 1, chopped
- Ground beef
- 1 pound
Instructions
- In a large skillet, add the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook over medium heat until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the pinto beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.
- While the beef and pinto bean mixture is simmering, warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
- Place a generous scoop of the beef and bean mixture in the center of each tortilla. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, diced tomato, a dollop of sour cream, and a spoonful of salsa.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it up tightly to form a burrito. Repeat this process for the remaining tortillas.
- Serve the Pinto Bean and Beef Burritos warm with additional salsa or sour cream on the side if desired. Enjoy your homemade Mexican feast!
Tips
- For a vegetarian version, swap the ground beef with a meat substitute or additional pinto beans.
- Add some heat with a sprinkle of jalapeno peppers or a drizzle of hot sauce.
- You can also add other ingredients like corn, bell peppers, or avocado for extra flavor and texture.
