Poffertjes Pancake Coffee

Dive into a delightful fusion of Dutch tradition and coffeehouse charm with our Poffertjes Pancake Coffee. This unique recipe brings together the light, fluffy texture of mini Dutch pancakes, known as Poffertjes, and the rich, aromatic allure of a well-brewed cup of coffee, topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder. It's the perfect merger of breakfast and dessert, an indulgence that will transport your taste buds straight to a cozy Dutch café.

Serves 2

Ingredients

Cocoa powder
1 tablespoon, for dusting
Whipped cream
1/2 cup
Sugar
2 tablespoons, or to taste
Coffee
1 cup, freshly brewed
Butter
2 tablespoons, for greasing
Egg
1, beaten
Milk
1 cup
Poffertjes pancake mix
1 cup

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the poffertjes pancake mix, milk, and beaten egg. Stir until the mixture forms a smooth batter.
  2. Heat a poffertjes pan over medium heat. If you don't have a poffertjes pan, a mini muffin tin or a small non-stick pan can also work. Melt a little butter in the pan to prevent the pancakes from sticking.
  3. Pour small dollops of the batter into the prepared pan. Cook the poffertjes until they're golden brown on both sides, flipping them halfway through.
  4. While the poffertjes are cooking, brew your coffee to your preferred strength and sweetness. Stir in the sugar until it's fully dissolved.
  5. Pour the brewed coffee into serving cups.
  6. Arrange a few of the cooked poffertjes on top of the coffee in each cup.
  7. Add a generous dollop of whipped cream to each cup, and dust with cocoa powder for the final touch.
  8. Serve your Poffertjes Pancake Coffee hot, and savor this unique, decadent treat!

Tips

  • 💡 If you like a more pronounced coffee flavor, consider adding a shot of espresso to your brew.
  • 💡 For a dairy-free version, substitute the milk with a non-dairy alternative like almond milk or oat milk, and use a dairy-free whipped cream.
