Ingredients

Original recipe serves 2

Milk
1 cup
Sugar
2 tablespoons or to taste
Cloves
4 whole
Cinnamon stick
1
Cardamom pods
4
Water
2 cups
Ground coffee
2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
  2. Bring the spice-infused water to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer. This helps to extract the flavors from the spices, creating a deeply aromatic base for your coffee.
  3. After simmering the spices for 5 minutes, add the ground coffee to the saucepan. Continue to simmer everything together for another 5 minutes, allowing the coffee to absorb the wonderful spice flavors.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the coffee steep undisturbed for 2 minutes. This brief resting period allows the flavors to meld together perfectly.
  5. Carefully strain the coffee into your favorite cups or mugs, leaving the spices behind.
  6. Add sugar to your individual preference, stirring until it is fully dissolved.
  7. In a separate saucepan or using a microwave, heat the milk until it is hot but not boiling.
  8. Pour the hot milk into the coffee, stirring gently to mix. Your Samovar Spiced Coffee is now ready to be savored.
  9. Enjoy this warm, spiced beverage as is, or accompany it with a slice of rich, buttery Russian tea cake for a truly authentic experience.
