Soy Sauce and Maple Syrup Marinade
Introducing an irresistible blend of East meets West in this Soy Sauce and Maple Syrup Marinade. This tantalizing marinade brings together the umami-rich flavor of traditional Asian soy sauce, the delicate sweetness of pure maple syrup from the vast forests of North America, and the aromatic intensity of fresh garlic and ginger. It's a perfect symphony of flavors that will not only elevate your chicken, pork, or tofu dishes but also transport your tastebuds on an international culinary journey.
Ingredients
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon, freshly ground
- Fresh ginger root
- 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup
- Soy sauce
- 1/2 cup
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the soy sauce, pure maple syrup, freshly minced garlic, and finely grated ginger root.
- Add the freshly ground black pepper and stir until all the ingredients are well combined. This forms your marinade.
- Pour the marinade over your choice of chicken, pork, or tofu, making sure all sides are well coated.
- Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. For a deeper, richer flavor, marinate for up to 24 hours.
- After marinating, cook your protein as desired. You can grill, bake, or pan-sear. Just remember, the marinade can burn easily because of the sugar in the maple syrup, so cook on medium heat and keep a close eye on it.
Tips
- For a spicy kick, add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes or minced jalapeno to the marinade.
- If you're using the marinade for tofu, press the tofu first to remove excess water. This allows the tofu to absorb more of the marinade, giving it more flavor.
- The marinade can also be used as a sauce. Simply simmer the leftover marinade in a small saucepan over medium heat until it reduces by half. It'll become a delicious, sticky glaze perfect for drizzling over your cooked protein.
