Instructions
- In a bowl, combine lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to create a zesty marinade.
- Place the flank steak in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over it, ensuring it's fully coated. Seal the bag and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. For an infusion of deeper flavors, marinating overnight is recommended.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. If you're using a skillet, ensure it's hot before adding the steak.
- Remove the steak from the marinade, shaking off any excess. Discard the remaining marinade. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Allow the steak to rest for a few minutes after grilling. This helps to keep the juices locked in.
- While the steak rests, warm the tortillas on the grill or in a skillet until they're soft and pliable.
- Slice the rested steak into thin, bite-sized strips.
- To assemble the tacos, place a few slices of steak onto each tortilla. Add the sliced avocado, diced tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion, a sprinkle of fresh cilantro, a spoonful of sour cream, and a generous serving of salsa.
- Serve your steak tacos immediately for the best flavor and enjoy this traditional Mexican delight!
Tips
- For a variation, try using corn tortillas for a more authentic taste or adding some grated cheese. Consider serving with a side of Mexican rice or beans.
