Ingredients

2 tablespoons
Russian dressing
4 tablespoons
Swiss cheese
4 slices
Sauerkraut
1 cup, drained
Rye bread
4 slices
Turkey breast
4 slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread a tablespoon of Russian dressing on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  3. On two slices of bread, layer a slice of turkey, a slice of Swiss cheese, and 1/4 cup of sauerkraut.
  4. Top each with another slice of bread, dressing side down.
  5. Spread butter on the outside of each sandwich, ensuring all corners are covered for an evenly toasted crunch.
  6. Place the sandwiches on the skillet or griddle and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side. The bread should be golden brown and the cheese should be melting and gooey.
  7. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet or griddle and let them cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid scalding the mouth.
  8. Cut the sandwiches in half diagonally and serve warm for the best flavor.

Tips

  • 💡 For a variation, try using pastrami or corned beef instead of turkey. For a vegetarian option, replace the turkey with a plant-based meat substitute.
