Udon Carbonara

Udon Carbonara

A Japanese twist on the classic Italian carbonara, this udon carbonara is creamy, flavorful, and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • Green onions (2, thinly sliced (for garnish))
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Heavy cream (1/4 cup)
  • Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
  • Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup, grated)
  • Egg yolks (2)
  • Bacon (4 slices, chopped)
  • Udon noodles (8 ounces)

Instructions

  1. Cook the udon noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and heavy cream.
  4. Heat the skillet with the bacon fat over low heat. Add the cooked udon noodles and toss to coat them in the bacon fat.
  5. Pour the egg yolk mixture over the noodles and quickly toss to coat the noodles evenly. The residual heat will cook the eggs and create a creamy sauce.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Divide the udon carbonara into serving bowls and top with the crispy bacon and sliced green onions.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!
